Insiders buying while short sellers pile in
Two groups, opposite bets: executives buying their own stock, and traders selling it short. These are the stocks where both are happening right now.
How this list works
Insider buying: open-market purchases reported on SEC Form 4 in the last 30 days.
Short volume: FINRA publishes, every trading day, how many shares were sold short in trades reported to its off-exchange facilities. We compare the last 20 trading days with the 40 before them and list stocks where the share rose by at least 5 percentage points.
Important: daily short volume is not short interest. It includes market makers' routine hedging, so ratios of 40–50% are normal for many stocks. A rising ratio means more short selling than usual for that stock, not that most traders are betting against it. Neither signal predicts the price.
