The seven checks
Each one lights up only after it has actually run.
1 · Finding the SEC filingThe Form 4 behind the trade: who, role, trade date, filing date, shares, price, and the link to the original.
2 · Reading the filing's qualifiersPre-planned 10b5-1 sales, shares held through a trust or fund, late filings, amendments, prices that looked like typos.
3 · This insider's own historyTheir earlier buys and sales here: is this their first purchase, or several times their usual size?
4 · What other insiders didEveryone else buying or selling the same stock in the last 90 days, and how much of the selling was pre-planned.
5 · Similar past buysBuys since 2020 with the same traits, how often they beat the S&P 500, and real best and worst examples.
6 · What happened afterThe stock 7, 30 and 90 days after this filing, against the S&P 500. "Pending" until the days pass.
7 · Evidence for and againstPlain sentences from the checks above, plus the things filings can't tell us.
How we keep it honest
- No AI model writes these reports. The checks are calculations on our data, and the sentences come from fixed rules you can read in our methodology.
- Public data only. "Spy" is a nickname: everything comes from SEC filings that anyone can read.
- The case against is always shown, along with what we couldn't check, such as the insider's reasons.
- No predictions. Similar past buys beat the S&P 500 about 46% of the time. That's history, not a forecast or advice.
